Rabbi Dr. Eliezer Brodt

Faculty Chair

Rabbi Dr. Eliezer Brodt holds an MA and PhD in Talmud from Bar Ilan University and Rabbinic Ordination from Rabbi Moshe Halberstam.  He is the recipient of numerous awards and grants for his scholarship. He is a prolific author, publisher and editor of many scholarly works and articles within the area of Jewish Studies in both Hebrew and English.  Dr. Brodt has taught at Herzog College and conducted research on behalf of Tel Aviv University and Herzog College. He is one of the contributing editors of the Torah journal Yeshurun and of the Seforim blog. He recently started giving Classes for the OU Torah website.  Dr. Brodt attended Yeshivas Shaar HaTorah, Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, and Yeshivas Mir. He serves as Faculty Chair of the Judaic Studies Department and teaches Talmud at Woodmont College. He lives with his family in Ramat Bet Shemesh, Israel.

Rabbi Nissan Goldberg

Rabbi Nissan Goldberg graduated from Touro University with a BS in Psychology with a concentration in education and special education, he has two master degrees as well from Touro,  MS in Early Intervention and Special Education and a MS in school administration and leadership. He got his semicha from Rabbi Yitzchal Knoble , Rosh Kollel of Yeshiva Gedolah of the Five Towns. Before recently making aliyah, Rabbi Goldberg has been involved in both formal and informal education for over 20 years. He has taught special ed both judaic and general studies in every grade from Nursery to 12th grade. Most recently he was Rabbi/ Mashgiach Ruchani/ judaic studies principal for a school in Long Island, NewYork. Rabbi Goldberg was also a Youth Director for over 8 years , most recently, for  a Shul in Great Neck, NY for 5 years.  Rabbi Goldberg lives in Tzur Hadassah with his wife and kids. 

Professor Arielle Arieli

Arielle Arieli has spent the past 14 years teaching in seminaries Hashkafa, Tanach, and topics in personal growth, while guiding students to achieve their goals on their individual paths. Originally from Queens, NY, Mrs. Arieli attended SKA, and then Michlalah. She earned her BA in Judaic Studies with a minor in Computer Science from Stern College for Women and her MA in Jewish secondary education from the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration. Pursuing her love of teaching, Mrs. Arieli taught in HALB, HANC, and Ateret in Queens College before making aliyah. She also enjoys spending her summers teaching on NCSY’s Michlelet program. Mrs. Arieli values her relationships with students created in and out of the classroom. She and her family live in Ramat Beit Shemesh.

Rabbi Mordechai Gershon

Rabbi Mordechai Gershon graduated from Yeshiva University, where he earned a BS in Psychology, an MA in Jewish Education, and Rabbinic Ordination.  He previously served as a member of the rabbinic staff at Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood, NJ and has worked in the field of formal Jewish education at various levels for over a decade.  When not involved in learning and teaching Torah, Rabbi Gershon loves writing, touring Eretz Yisroel with his wife and children, and playing soulful Jewish music with his guitar.  

Rabbi Noson Waintman

Rabbi Noson Waintman holds an M.S. in Marketing from the Zicklin School of Business at the City University of New York, rabbinic ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS), and a B.A. in History from Yeshiva University. He brings a diverse professional background that includes higher education administration and accreditation, curriculum development, professional training, and informal education. He also has extensive experience in digital marketing and data analytics. In his free time, Rabbi Waintman enjoys teaching, learning, and reading one of his thousands of books.

Rabbi Yosef Back holds an MA in Archaeology and Land of Israel Studies from Bar Ilan University and rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg. He was previously involved in the creation of the Morasha Syllabus: a comprehensive 120 topic curriculum on the essentials of Judaism. When not involved with teaching, Rabbi Back travels throughout the land of Israel and the diaspora as a tour guide.
He lives in Ramat Beit Shemesh with his wife and children.

Professor Daniel Batyrev holds a Bsc. in Bioinformatics from the University of Tuebingen and an Msc. Computational Neuroscience  from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.  He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Computational Neuroscience at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.  Professor Batyrev has studied at Yeshivas Telodos Yeshurun and Machon Shlomo in Jerusalem.  He has served as a lecturer in both technology and Jewish studies in various venues, including the Jerusalem College of Technology (Machon Lev), Olami, MEOHR, and  Lauder Foundation educational programs.  He is also a licensed fencing coach.

Professor Mark Stern

Professor Mark Stern holds an MA  in Mathematics from Oxford University and an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of London. He has worked as a software engineer for 25 years in both England and Israel. He has been teaching at Woodmont College since 2020.

Professor Rina Schwartz

Professor Schwartz graduated University of Phoenix and Carlow College (Pittsburgh, PA) with an MS in Computer Information Systems Management, and has experience in various computer-related fields. Her passion to educate drove her to teach in various subjects for over 20 years. Ms. Schwartz first started teaching in the late 1980s when she taught Meteorology in the US Navy for many years. Later, Ms. Schwartz taught high school and college-level classes in Computers and Spanish.  Before working as a teacher, she worked as a Business Systems Analyst for a major hospital system in Pittsburgh, PA.

Rabbi Dr. Josh Wise

Rabbi Dr. Josh Wise comes to us with significant experience in schools both large and small. Dr. Wise began his teaching journey as part of the initial cohort of the Jewish New Teacher Project, and often looks back at that experience as a model to help other new teachers. Dr. Wise has taught across the K-12 spectrum, and has developed a deep knowledge of how all students learn. 

Dr. Wise earned a BA in Brain and Cognitive Science at MIT, an MA in psychology from Ferkauf (YU), an EdD in Educational Administration from the Azrieli School of Education (YU), and rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg.

Dr. Wise has mentored and supervised teachers for 20+ years, and recognizes that every student (adult and child alike) has their own style of learning and developing. This naturally leads to helping teachers see the same. Whether the ultimate goal is getting students to gain a deeper understanding of STEM concepts, or guiding teachers to find the best pedagogic practices for themselves, Dr. Wise relies on best practices of leadership, taken from individuals such as John Maxwell and Patrick Lencioni, to develop the next generation of educators.

Rabbi Dr. Avichai Pepper

Rabbi Dr. Avichai Pepper is a graduate of the New England Rabbinical College in Providence, RI. He holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Bellevue University, a Master’s degree in Counseling from Liberty University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. Rabbi Dr. Pepper brings experience for more than 25 years of work in the field of education. He has held several positions in formal and informal education and school administration. He currently serves as the Director of Educational Support Services at the Yeshiva of Greater Washington, in addition to serving as an Academic Facilitator at Woodmont College.

Professor Jodi Brenner

Jodi Brenner joined the Education Department at Woodmont College in Spring of 2024. She graduated from Brooklyn College with her MS in special education and a concentration Early Childhood. Her Pre K-12 teaching experience was as a special education Itinerant teacher and Early Interventionist for both integrated co-teaching and self-contained settings as well as working with the NYS Early Intervention Program. Jodi teaches college graduate courses related to instructional methods in early childhood fields, special education inclusion and collaboration. Her primary research areas are in course design, teacher/faculty preparation, instructional methods, and professional development for ICT classrooms and instruction for students with high-incidence disabilities.

Dr. Stephanie Glick

Dr. Stephanie Glick, Head of Educational Technology at Braude College of Engineering, brings over 30 years of experience. She earned her MA in Education at Brandeis University and her EdD in Educational Technology at Pepperdine University. With a doctorate in educational technology and media, she collaborates with faculty, focusing on instructional design and exploring emerging technologies. Passionate about pedagogical excellence, she develops online courses to meet diverse learner needs. Driven by a genuine curiosity about the intersection of technology and pedagogy, Stephanie finds great joy in exploring and experimenting with emerging technologies. Her goal is to support educators in their pursuit of pedagogical excellence by leveraging these tools thoughtfully.

Dr. Michael Hamlin

Dr. Hamlin received his doctorate in Educational Psychology from the University of Washington and has worked and taught psychology and education classes to hundreds of students at several top universities including the University of Washington, Drexel University, Thomas Jefferson University, Pepperdine University, Loyola Marymount University and Touro University as well as the Microsoft Corporation. Starting with his graduate school research which focused on the integration of the learning sciences and educational technology, he has gone on to direct professional education and training programs both in traditional settings and in virtual environments for medicine, dentistry, business and allied health.

Dr. Hamlin has written and presented numerous papers in instructional technology and his research projects have received $1,000,000 in sponsored support. These funded projects include an Internet Collaboratory to support the application of research to health care practices and a follow-up project to create an evidence-based health care institute as well as projects focused in cognitive instruction, information ethics and apprenticeship training.

Dr. Robert Lubin

Dr. Robert Lubin is an accomplished academic and mental health professional with extensive experience in teaching, research, and leadership roles. He currently serves as an instructor at multiple institutions, where he teaches a wide range of online and in-person psychology and counseling courses. He holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology, an M.Ed, and a Psy.D in Psychology. 

Professor Amy Nelson

Amy Nelson, MS Ed, has enjoyed a career working with young children, their parents and their teachers, spanning more than three decades.  She is a Brandeis University graduate with a law degree from Boston University School of Law and an MS Ed in Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City. Amy’s Jewish early childhood education background includes ten years as Director of the Nursery School at Temple Beth El in Closter, NJ. She also served as Early Childhood Director at the Bergen County YJCC and the JCC MetroWest, both in New Jersey and the Mandel JCC in Boynton Beach, Florida. Amy’s engagement with Jewish life includes serving as President of Orangetown Jewish Center, as well as participating as a member of the METNY United Synagogue Youth Committee and the Education Committee of the Reuben Gittleman Hebrew Day School.

Currently, Amy resides in Israel where she enjoys a new role as Savta to her two beautiful granddaughters, Yarden and Arava. When she is not spending time with her grandchildren, Amy divides her time between teaching English to young Israeli natives, enjoying the Tel Aviv beaches, and traveling.

Professor Shari Seidman-Klein

Mrs. Shari Klein, a devoted wife and mother, has spent the past 25 years working in all
facets of the field of early childhood education: Teacher at Yeshivah of Flatbush and
Torah Tots; Evaluator and Interventionist at Challenge, Early Intervention Agency and
SEA, CPSE Agency; Education Director and ultimately as the HR Director at
BumbleBeesRus, where she is in charge of hiring, supporting, and training over 120 full-
time early childhood educators.

Mrs. Klein earned her Master’s in early childhood birth-2nd , 1st-6th and in children with disabilities from Touro College, in addition to her Permanent Reading Teacher License from Long Island University.

Since making aliyah 10 years ago, Mrs. Klein has been an active member of her community in Beit Shemesh creating family programming. For the past 3 years, she and her family have also undertaken the very rewarding responsibility of running a monthly food drive for a local food pantry. During her free time, Mrs. Klein volunteers at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, working with the development team and alongside the staff in the special education center.

Dr. Lenny Fuld

Tax guru by trade, teacher by passion.

A former YU Professor and proud CPA (NY), Dr. Lenny Fuld has been guiding  students through the twists and turns of the business world for over two decades — including as former Director of the Graduate Tax Program at Yeshiva University’s Sy Syms School of Business. Dr. Fuld holds a doctorate in education from Azrieli (2021), plus an APC in Taxation and MBA (with distinction!) from NYU. Dr Fuld: "My tax journey has taken me from PwC to Schlumberger, Citigroup and to the C-suite at Griffon Corp. I believe that classes should be informative and fun."

Professor Dan Hurwitz

Dan Hurwitz graduated from the University of Witwatersrand (WITS) in Johannesburg, South Africa with an Undergraduate Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.Sc. Eng. Elec.) and a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, majoring in Information Engineering. In addition, he holds an International MBA from Bar-Ilan University which he graduated Magma Cum Laude and received a reward of achievement for academic excellence. He is currently a doctoral student at Bar-Ilan University doing research in artificial intelligence and machine learning with applications in finance. He also teaches and assists in several courses in the business school such as – Quantitative Business Analytics, Finance, and Research Methods. 

In addition to his academic credentials, he has many years of experience in strategy and business development in the hi-tech world covering a range of fields from measurement and instrumentation, power electronics, renewable energy, software engineering, laser technology and others.

Dan studied several years in various yeshivas in Eretz Yisroel and received smicha from the Harry Fischel Institute (Kollel Mishkan David) – where he studied Yoreh Deah under the instruction of the Rosh HaKollel – Harav Yaakov Varhavtig Shlilta.

Professor Dovid Lonn

Professor Dovid Lonn is an Enrolled Agent licensed by the IRS, with extensive
experience in tax accounting since graduating from Yeshiva University in 2011. He
also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Reichman University in
Herzliya, Israel. Based in Netanya, Israel, Dovid has built a thriving personal tax
practice serving over 750 clients.
In addition to his tax practice, Dovid previously served in an advisory role at VCM
Software, a financial software company based in Efrat, Israel. He is excited to share
his accounting expertise with Woodmont students and is committed to making the
learning experience both educational and engaging.

Professor Kerry Zias

Kerry Zias has been a strategic business consultant and college instructor of business administration courses since 1990. He has taught courses and performed professional consulting work in the areas of marketing, management, business start-ups, entrepreneurship, real estate, sales psychology and performance, business communications, business law and political/governmental relations. Zias holds a Master of Business Administration in marketing from National University.

Dr. Yoram Bucker

Dr. Yoram Bucker is an exemplary academician with 30 years of experience in higher education. He served as a Professor of Educational Research and Institutional Review Board Representative at Nova Southeastern University’s Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice for over 20 years.

Yoram’s research agenda produced 59 published, scientific, peer-reviewed papers, including national and international presentations. His work primarily involved the application of pedagogy and technology in online learning, particularly related to educational assessment and student satisfaction.

After a lengthy and successful career in academia, his family is fulfilling a lifelong dream of making Aliyah. Originally from Montreal, Canada, he and his wife spent the last 20 years living by the ocean in Jupiter, Florida along with their two children.

His true passion is making online learning a rewarding, practical and enjoyable experience for his many busy, wonderful, hard working students! 🙂

Dr. Rivka Levron

Rivka Levron holds a medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and a PhD in Neuroscience from Columbia University.  She spent a decade pursuing biomedical research at the National Institutes of Health before making aliya. She now serves as a college lecturer in a number of biological science courses in various venues, including Touro College, Maalot (Gratz College), Meohr (Michlalah Yerushalayim), and the Jerusalem College of Technology (Machon Tal).  Outside of teaching, Rivka enjoys learning new things, and recently became a certified mineralogy specialist.

Professor Tziril Lea Duschinsky

Mrs. Tziril Lea Duschinsky earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry at Brooklyn College and holds a NYS Teacher Certificate. As an educator for over 15 years, she has taught chemistry, physics and other sciences to a diverse student body in both public and private school settings.

Professor Chana Prero

Professor Chana Prero graduated from City College of New York and Lander College for Women, with a New York State teaching license and an MA in Biology Education.

Chana, originally from New York, is an energetic and creative Torah teacher.  Chana blends sophisticated analysis of texts with the introduction and exploration of basic Torah concepts, resulting in a stimulating class for anyone interested in delving into Torah study, regardless of past experience.

Dr. Joy Kahn

Dr. Joy Kahn holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biochemistry with a focus on cancer research from Bar-Ilan University. She completed a Ph.D. in Stem Cell Biology at the Weizmann Institute of Science, where she also pursued postdoctoral research in Molecular Genetics and Developmental Biology. Dr. Kahn is currently a researcher in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology at Ben-Gurion University, Israel, specializing in the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration.

Dr. Shimshon Ayzenberg

Shimshon Ayzenberg went to Yeshiva College, Bernard Revel School of Judaic Studies, and Stanford University, where he got his doctorate in East European Jewish history. Before Woodmont College, he taught general and Jewish history courses and ran the Jewish Studies program at San Jose State University.

Professor Yoni Grysman

Yoni Grysman is a seasoned marketing professional with extensive experience in helping companies integrate generative AI tools into their technology stacks and produce compelling content. As a Certified Marketing AI Expert from the AI Marketing Institute, Yoni specializes in creating and executing marketing strategies for B2B companies, enabling them to reach a wider audience and achieve their business goals. With a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration from Bar Ilan University, Yoni combines academic knowledge with practical expertise in leveraging AI for innovative marketing solutions.

Professor Melissa Schafstall

Melissa Schafstall holds a MA in English from the University of Georgia, where she taught two sections of Freshman English Composition, and a BA in English from the University of Oklahoma. She has taught language arts for over 20 years at Temima High School in Atlanta, GA. In addition, she has scored exams for AP English through the College Board. She currently lives with her family in Atlanta.

Dr.Micheal Hamlin

Rabbi Hanoch Teller

Rabbi Hanoch Teller has lectured before audiences on five continents, in 40 American States and 24 other countries. People from all backgrounds flock to hear this award-winning author, orator, and educator speak on a wide range of subjects.  

Rabbi Teller is a popular teacher in numerous Jerusalem yeshivas and seminaries. As a teacher, Rabbi Teller draws from his thorough knowledge of Torah, Jewish history and thought, specifically the history of our rabbis and leaders, to inspire and uplift his students during his shiurim.

Rabbi Teller is one of the few independent guides who is licensed by Yad Vashem to give tours of their new museum. Rabbi Teller also leads groups of Yeshiva students on tours through Eastern Europe. Hanoch Teller’s guided tours are unique in their ability to present the events of the Holocaust from a unique, clear and uncompromising perspective, emphasizing the experiences of the individual victims.

Rebbetzin Shira Smiles

Rebbetzin Shira Smiles is a sought-after international lecturer, popular seminary teacher, and experienced curriculum developer. Mrs. Smiles is well known for her special teaching style that explains Torah texts through analysis of tens of relevant sources, while at the same time making the lessons relevant to her students’ lives. Mrs. Smiles  leads a number of women’s study group classes in Beit Shemesh, Yerushalayim, and Modiin. She also trains Torah teachers in special workshops all over the world.

Mrs. Smiles has been using technology to spread Torah for many years. She currently teaches a weekly shiur  that is broadcast to many cities around the world via satellite hookup, and conducts skype classes with students around the world.

Rabbi Hershel Reichman

A veteran student of Rabbi Yosef Dov Halevi Soloveitchik, Rabbi Hershel Reichman has been a Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshiva University for over thirty years.  In addition to directing and inspiring hundreds of students in his Talmud class, he has also written six books, entitled Reshimos Shiurim, based on the notes of the Talmud classes of Rabbi Soloveitchik.  Additionally, Rabbi Herschel Reichman is a teacher of Hasidism, and is particularly fond of the philosophy of the Shem Mishmuel. He is known for his involvement in many charitable and educational projects on behalf of the Jewish People.

Rabbi Moshe Nechemia Reichman

Rabbi Moshe N. Reichman studied in a number of yeshivas in America and Israel and received semicha from Yeshivas Ohr HaChaim.  He taught Gemara at high school and post-high-school levels for the past 20 years, and is now a maggid shiur at Yeshivat Torat Shraga in Yerushalayim. He presents deep Talmudic concepts in a clear, lively way.

Rabbi Reichman’s lectures focus on helping his listeners develop analytical thinking skills and discovering the unique logic in every Gemara.  He incorporates the Torah thoughts and systems of thinking of the Brisker approach into his presentation of Talmudic concepts. This, together with his clear and lively presentation of the material, helps train his students to refine their thinking skills and better understand the Talmud.

Rabbi Shimon Isaacson

Rabbi Isaacson is the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Shaarei Mevaseret Tzion.  He received his semicha from the Meretz Kollel.

Rabbi Isaacson brings a unique background and perspective to his shiurim.  Before embarking on his career in Jewish Education, he was an attorney at a law firm in New York City, and he continues to practice law during his breaks from teaching in the summer.  He also clerked for Justice Menachem Elon on the Israeli Supreme Court, where he gained his first perspective on the interplay between Jewish and secular law.

Rabbi Isaacson points to his Aliyah in 1995 as a major turning point in his life.  He currently lives in Ramat Bet Shemesh with his wife Sharon and their seven children.

Rebbetzin Tziporah Heller

Rebbetzin Heller is internationally renowned as an outstanding scholar of Jewish Studies and a gifted lecturer. Rebbetzin Heller’s been a full-time faculty member of Neve Yerushalayim College in Jerusalem since 1980. Her areas of expertise include textual analysis of Torah, Biblical literature, and Jewish philosophy, with an emphasis on the teachings of Maimonides and Maharal. She’s especially known for her shiurim and classes devoted to the role of women in Judaism and analysis of the lives of women in the Torah.

Rabbi Beinish Ginsburg

Rabbi Beinish Ginsburg has been teaching at Michalah Jerusalem College for Women for the past 16 years. He’s been on the staff at Yeshivat Netiv Aryeh at the Kosel for 10 years and is now a maggid shiur for shanah bet. He also taught at Darchei Binah seminary for several years. Rabbi Ginsburg received semicha from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and from Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchonon, and earned his Master’s in Jewish Education from the University of Maryland.

Rabbi Ginsburg and his wife Chana made Aliya in 1995.They are both gratefully involved in raising their family in Ramat Beit Shemesh and teaching Torah.

Rabbi Avishai David

Rabbi Avishai David is accomplished talmid chacham and veteran educator and the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Torat Shraga in Bayit Vegan, Jerusalem. As the founding Dean of Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim and popular lecturer at Michlala Jerusalem, Rabbi David contributed in a concrete way to the advancement of Jewish women’s Torah education.

Rabbi David is well known for his high-level shiurim, which cover extensive amounts of material in a relatively short time. His shiurim are a unique blend of intellectual stimulation, emotional appeal, and upbeat interaction. His classes satisfy and challenge the listener as he shares the depth and beauty of Torah.

Rabbi David is a long-time talmid of HaRav Yosef Dov Halevi Soloveitchik ztz”l and applies his rebbe’s unique methodology to all the topics that he teaches in his shiurim— Talmud, Navi, Halacha, and Chumash. In explaining Gemara concepts or verses in the Torah, Rabbi David focuses on the nuances and distinctions within a given text, presenting the listener with eye-opening insights and a new perspective on the precision of every word of Torah.

Rabbi Yitzchak Cohen

Rabbi Yitzchak Cohen, born in the Midwest and educated at Yeshivas Torah Vodaath, is a well-known musar personality who’s inspired hundreds of students at Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchonon and Camp Morasha for over 30 years.  His impassioned message of devotion to G-d and uncompromising loyalty to truth has impacted the lives of his many students and admirers in an astounding way.
